24 Hour Management

In short, I think it is a joke that they hire people with degrees and management experience to work entry-level for an $8/hr commission draw. It is the epitome of bottom-feeding. They dangle the carrot in front of you (Your general manager and department manager) so they can motivate and retain you. Then, you get the prestigious honor of being an assistant manager (nothing more than a max bonus of $600/m which you never hit) so you can feel important 8am-5pm Sat/Sun and deal with 90% of the customer service issues then, instead of production, for which you will be blamed on Monday. Also, your team members will call in late or sick due to "car problems" or "some bad food" (translation: I am young and hungover every weekend at 9am!). So, if you by miracle get them to come in and motivated to produce on the weekend and brown-nose manangement for at least a year, you may get to be a membership manager...Just to find out the new GM they hired or new DM in training came over from Walmart or Home Depot! Stay away from 24 Hour Fitness as an employee...I wasted 2 years of my life and even passed up better offers to be in corporate quicksand, then laid off when a new GM (DM in training) came in from another company with a fake leadership style, thinking he knew all about the industry and who he wanted in there. Also, my 21 year old boss, who was a good salesman, swallowing everything the new GM, DM, or RVP was telling him. I am prior-military and we can see right through leadership, whether it is real and caring, or fake and self-serving.
