ACSM Health Fitness Specialist Workshop. Worth it???

Hi,
I am finishing my last semester of a B.S. in Kinesiology. I am going to take the ACSM Health Fitness Specialist exam.

I am considering taking the HFS workshop.

I have read several posts that say the ACSM CPT workshop can be very helpful for the CPT Test ESPECIALLY the manual that they give you.

My questions:
1)Has anyone taken a HFS workshop? Is it worth the $400+ ?

2)Do they give out workbook/manuals like the CPT workshop? Is it as valuable? If so, does anyone know anywhere I can get one of these great manuals without paying $400 for the workshop?

3)Can I just get by with the 3 ACSM recommended workbooks?

4)Also, the test prep book/software that this site sells; Is it helpful for the HFS test? Does it account for the 2010 editions of the ACSM books and test?

Do you attend Indiana University, because I am basically in the same boat as you only a little less than a year behind. I am taking the ACSM test next spring.

Hi,

I recently cleared ACSM HFS Certification exam.

I didn't take any workshops, just thoroughly read those 3 recommended books.

Exam was tough, but by applying logic and remembering what i read, i was able to clear it.

I recently took the HFS exam and passed. I also did not go to any workshop, just read the recommended readings as well and bought a study guide published by some company. Although I do have 10 years of experience in exercise science.
