ISSA Online Exam

I understand that the ISSA online test is an open book test. Was everything on the test covered in the book? If you did the online test, did you use your course book to actually answer most or all of the questions?

The price for everything is comparable to the ACE cert price, so I wanted to check. How intense were the essay questions and case studies? I'm ready to take it, but am a bit nervous. I know a lot about the field, but testing is much different than working out in the gym or showing someone how to correctly perform an exercise.

Yes, all the ISSA test questions are covered by the book. And its an open booked test. Trust me even with open book you will have a hard time finding the answers if you do not know the text by heart. :)

The Home Test Is Hard

I went to there seminar and it was great but, I wasn't prepared to take the test because I haven't studied for a few months. I'm taking the test at home. The home test is a lot harder. There are six essays on the home test and you have to do outside research on these questions. I've started it and it is difficult.

I'm in the process of taking my exam as I type this and I have to say you really have to do your homework for this exam. just because it's open book does not mean it's a piece of cake however. you have your thick textbook to guide you and of course internet research.. and the 6 essay's can be grueling. + 2 case studies

I took a Fitness Coarse at Rio Hondo Community College and they pretty much cover everything you need for th ISSA exam. Nowe I read the questions and they are much easier to understand. If you guys are having issues with the essay questions, google essay samples and there are websites that give you a million examples of essay with similar situations and word it out yourself.

I am currently taking my ISSA CPT test. I am pretty okay up until my case studies and 6 essays. I know I can get through it but my question is do you really use all these formulas they provide. Is it this hard? I am in great shape, Mom of 3 and self taught, most everything is clicking except all these formulas. DO I really need to know them or do I just have to get through the test?

I did not take the exam within the time frame due to illness. They let me take it, without charge, but I had to take the 8th edition exam using my 7th edition book. I did okay except for some incomplete info on the case studies and learning experiences.

What is so hard?

Charlene, just do the test, I can't even remember using any formula's on any of the 4 courses I have done with ISSA. I am doing the SSC now, and already hold/maintain the CFT,EFT (no longer offered), and SPN. I find it time consuming, but certainly not hard.

ITs the best course ever if you train yourself enjoy fitness then the answers will come to you. I am taking more courses from these guys they may be hard but its rewarding . I am canadian and not american so I would continue to take these courses when im 60 years old and work anywhere in the world

ISSA FINAL

I am now ISSA certified and the open book test certainly is challenging. The multiple choice and T/F is the easy part. Case studies and essays required research and thought put into it. You have to understand that it has to be challenging, or the cert is crap. You cannot expect it all to be a walk in the park and then get paid $50+/hour. It has to be earned. I read somewhere that a guy took the final in 45 minutes...that is BS. I am a college grad and it took me over 10 hours to complete. Be prepared to take time on this test...you will benefit from it.

I just completed the ISSA CFT exam in August of 2011. I have to agree that although it was open book, it was not "easy". The m/c and t/f were pretty easy b/c it was straight from the text. The essays and case studies; however, were a lot of work. I spent a lot of time going over my answers and did well on the exam. I also hold a provincial certification b/c I need it to teach fitness classes at the gym I work with, but wanted this certification so I could legitimately start my own PT business. Most sports industries recognize ISSA which is huge if this is the route you are going. :)

Issa CFT exam

I'm currently taking the ISSA courses and currently taking the CFT exam, sure it's an open book;however it doesnt make it easy. Issa's course is focused in biomechanics, kinesiology and teaches you foundations in program development. It teaches you how to properly design a fitness and nutritional program using the principals of individual difference; basically you can't train everyone the same way. if you don't read the text,do the study book and attend the online lectures; there is no way you will be able to apply there fundamentals in there case study and essays. They're teaching you the basic fundamentals of fitness and it's up to you to apply it the way you want. however after reading and studying their program you will have an understanding in a fitness program development. People told me I should think about taking another course like Nasm for example.however being in the Military Issa is a much more military friendly program . I have learned so much from Issa and recommends it to build a soild foundation in fitness education.To sum it up Issa might be an open book, but it won't write your essays to see if you know and understand the fundamentals of exercise science.

ISSA exams are very challenging. Open book doesn't mean anything. It is very, very challenging. I'm a certified technical educational teacher and the exams I took to get my credentials wasn't that damn hard.

I am stuck at the case study. I tried twice and didn't pass. So I paid $50 to unlocked my test. I'm going to try one more time. I'm study hard but this test it's very hard and they never satisfied with my answer. I don't know I spent 5 months study this book. I know I can do it but I think they just want money and make your pay more
