Lack of patience

It is very disappointing to me as a personal trainer when I see some people coming to the gym hoping to get some magic done to their out of shape bodies. They want a 'perfect' figure without having the patience to work on a disciplined gym routine supplemented by a balanced diet.

Most important of all, such people tend to slacken when they see some minor improvements, which leads to the fat piling up with renewed vigor.

It is very disappointing to me as a trainer that such people are very near to their goal of a fit body but can't get there because of a lack of patience and perseverance.

I used to work in a gym setting, and being a personal trainer in there, if you didn't have the magic answer, my GOD!!! People would get a pissy fit then an attitude.

I had one client I worked with really hard for over a year, and had gastric bypass surgery, we managed to lose 45 pounds, but when she left, calling me about 5 months later, it all came back, and I couldn't understand why she gave up so quickly

Lack of patience

Having Bariatric Surgery isn't JUST about loosing weight. It's about dealing with emotional issues also. If there are underlying emotional issues that weren't dealt with before the surgery, they come through SCREAMING afterward. Was the client helped to understand and deal with the grieving process after the surgery? Was the client guided in her Journey to understand how food/exercise should be viewed in a healthy manner? Helping them to set new habits for a lifetime. Having Bariatric Surgery IS NOT a 'cure-all' for loosing weight. It's a tool that as Personal Trainers we should be helping someone learn to use correctly.
