NASM took me six months

by Elizabeth
(Pasadena, CA)

I think one of the comments listed above is misleading to people as I just took the NASM CPT exam and it took me 6 months to prepare. I have a full time job & am involved in a number of activities outside of work therefore I had to study before work, during lunch and after work as well as on my weekends.

I followed the study guide exactly as it suggested and in order to pass the FOUNDATIONS exam (which NASM recommends you take first before the CPT exam) it is highly unlikely that most people would be ready in "less than two months".

Go at your own pace

Great job on passing the NASM exam Elizabeth. The difference between two months and six months is measured in cranky bosses, screaming babies and the bags under your eyes.

NASM isn't easy. If you have a lot of experience or prior fitness education, you can get NASM certified quickly. If you are starting from scratch and have to do it part-time, then six months is very respectable.

Thanx for your Honesty...
by: Anonymous

I'm scheduled to take the NASAM test 9/6. I am very nervous and really appreciate your honesty.
I also have a very demanding full time job, 2 kids and single mom. But a girl's got to do, what a girl's got to do!

Circumstances are everything
by: Anonymous

I actually just took the NASM exam and passed on my first try. It took me just over four weeks until I was confident enough to schedule my laser grade exam. However, I had recently become unemployed, so I had nothing but time to study. If you have the time and dedicate that time to studying, it does not need to take that long.
With a full time job, etc, etc, yes, it is understandable that it may take a bit longer.
