The NFPT is a fine company!!!

by Jerald Evans
(Pensacola, Fl US)

I have been with the NFPT family for about a year now and have been impressed with how they treated me like family. They are quick to help when and with whatever area they can. The test is extremely hard, but not impossible. I have a B.S Degree and this is by far one of the hardest test I have ever taken. I STRONGLY recommend this certification.

After calling several other certification companies, most seemed cold over the phone and always tried to say they were the best. Not with NFPT they were honest and down to earth. I favor them among many. I know other people who are certified with other companies and they seem dissatisfied when talking about what their companies do for them.

NFPT #1 hardest
by: Anonymous

I agree with this being a very difficult test and I was certified with them back in '97 and I chose it because it was the first internationally recognized certification. The test was a bear in that it was broken into three sections with each one respectfully more difficult. I know this that is studying for my test I learned a lot and became a much better trainer for it. Want a challenge?.... take the test.

NFPT Exam
by: Anonymous

Just looking for some feedback on how anyone felt about the NFPT exam.... the material is very convoluted and after taking all the practice quizzes and passing I'm still a little nervous about the exam. I'm readying a lot of mixed reviews on it. Does anyone know if the test questions are the same or similar to the practice tests/quizzes? Thanks in advance!

What about NFPT??

by Margot

No one on the discussion forum is mentioning NFPT...is that because it's not recognized, or that you can't get hired with that certification?

It seems like a good online option because they recert yearly, but the recert rate is only $85 as compared to NASM's $800 (including CEUs).

Can anyone give a review of the NFPT and how employable someone with that cert would be??

NFPT
by: Anonymous

This was my questions too. I went for it after reviewing my other options. The study material is very confusing - the study guide primarily. Margot, did you decide to go with NFPT. I would really like to hear what someone else thinks of the program.

NFPT is employable
by: Anonymous

I chose NFPT for the very reason it wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I found that they were all very helpful when I had questions and their flexible pay plan is awesome. The rates above I believe have changed but if your on your ball and sign up for their specials you may be able to get a discount on the cert. I know they've done one around the 4th of July.

I completed the NFPT certification process and there are definite added perks. Through NFPT I'm also a member of IDEA for 6 months which is awesome because you get access to all the member areas, get discounts to all their workshops, gear and other services (insurance etc.) that they have available at discounted rates.

I haven't run into anyone who won't hire you by having this certification. Stroller Strides, Golds, most major gyms are aware and accept NFPT.

NFPT is a Great Certification
by: L. M.

NFPT is a great organization and is NCCA accredited. There are over 300 testing locations across the nation, either computer-based or scheduled one-on-one by appointment with a testing official.

In addition to the NFPT-CPT Personal Trainer Certification Program, also offered are a Nutrition Specialist, Weight and Resistance Training Specialist, and Endurance Training Specialist programs.

NFPT
by: Anonymous

To soon to tell anyone if this was my best choice. I have a question into NFPT about what do do with labeling a document that has no illustrations, only lines and numbers. It has been over 24 hours and no one has responed yet.

blah
by: Chubs

NFPT was my 1st cert. I got it years ago and while it's not a bad program, it's also not one to hang your reputation on. The programs has a definite "lax" quality in my opinion, but depending on what you want out of it, it might be right for some people. Just don't expect alot of name recognition.

NFPT-CPT earns NCCA Accreditation:
by: NFPT

NCCA required an independent exam validation process. Our NFPT Board chose Schroeder Measurement Technologies (SMT), to validate and control our NFPT-CPT assessment.

The survey of a broad sampling of practicing fitness professionals was performed in order to determine what questions needed to be in the examination and the number of questions to be asked on different subject matter. In reality personal training candidates need to possess some basic knowledge, skills, and abilities from fitness experience and/or past related education beyond what can be learned from any one education resource.

NCCA also demanded we put in place and prove enforcement of policies on cheating, proper test environment, a supervised examination delivery, third party "grading", and absolutely NO "teaching to the test".

NCCA is the existing standard and it IS recognized inside & outside our industry. NFPT has earned its place along-side the elite organizations who have proven through voluntary action their desire to better serve and protect the candidate, the public, and raise the bar in the personal training industry.

NFPT was good
by: Kimo

NFPT started out with some very good material and policies. Somewhere along the line they went like other Certs and just went after the money. Their new CEU policy is a good example. They are about revenue now. They are a business first. It's a shame.

nfpt ease
by: Ray

I am a nfpt prospect. I downloaded the text and study guide . I find the study guide very simple and MUCH MUCH easier to understand and use than some of the other training programs. The study guide is very clear and things are much easier to memorize . I found ACE program too confusing and ACSM too medical in nature.

Nfpt has a fantastic finance program. I found that NFPT is acceptable in most gyms. The only one I think is hesitant is anytime fitness but checking into that.

Ron J. Clark and the NFPT are outstanding!

by Jason J Duke
(Santa Cruz, CA, USA)

For the last decade I have studied and practiced fitness. After reading the text for this certification I no longer have any doubts or confusion surrounding the immense field of fitness. A solid basis for any education in fitness.

It was a pleasure and challenge studying the text 4 times and finishing the supplemental materials. After four months I scored a 95 on the exam, which is tough, but very applicable to the coursework.

Anytime I have a question I call the NFPT and someone answers the phone(yes a real person!) who is ready and willing to help.

I have practiced the principles outlined by the NFPT and have born witness, along with clients, to the ease and power of an education whose foundation of fitness is in demonstrable results.

I have started a personal training business and within days began training with complete confidence.

No flash, no hype, not bogus - no convincing needed. The NFPT simply speaks for itself. Yes, very powerful and practical.

NFPT disorganized material but overall good

by Aimee
(Portland, OR)

I am certified through NFPT, and I feel like I learned valuable information, but their at home study program booklet to study by felt very chaotic. It wasn't organized well, and chapters don't focus on just one aspect, but many, and make looking up a specific topic difficult. I also would have really liked more pictures, diagrams, and charts to put concepts into visual understanding. It was easy to get lost in some of the larger concepts because they assume you have a lot of background all ready in understanding certain vocabulary, concepts, ect.

Overall, I'm glad I chose this program and it was a very easy test. I believe NFPT is viewed, at least where I work, as one of the 'lower end' certifications, because it isn't very hard to get, isn't as expensive as most, and only requires a short study time.

Luckily, I also have a bachelors degree in health, otherwise I feel like I might be under-prepared to be an adequate personal trainer

NFPT is a well put together program

by Heather
(Huntington Beach, ca)

I passed the NFPT test a couple of days ago. 906/1000. almost all the questions were in the study guide and manual. I studied hard for months to prepare and feel that was what made the difference. I am pleased and feel that I received a good education.
