Passed ACE CPT
I took the ACE CPT test today; 4-21-2010. I passed the test on my first attempt. I took the 20 week ACE study course and studied from their premier package.
I purchased two practice tests from them and an on-line four module ACE Personal Trainer Exam. I also purchased the exam prep on this site.
I found all to be helpful in passing the test. I also concentrated my studies based on the suggestions on this site.
One thing is for certain. Each test is different. There were very little questions on my test regarding formulas. I do not recall one on MHR, MHRR/Karvonen, BMI. There were calculations on fat and lean muscle mass and a few on calories and percent of fat or carbs in an item. One on protein requirements.
Surprising I don't remember any on special population or special conditions other than pregnancy and diabetes.
Did not have to convert absolute to relative. No questions directly on CAD risk factors. No waist to hip.
There were safety, liability muscles and their function, sprain, strain, exercises and function, stretching, flexion, extension, adduction, abduction, planes of motion, flexibility questions and of course design. Also, numerous questions on posture, Kyphosis, Flat Back, Sway back, Scoliosis. Medication and effect on HR. Exercise in heat and altitude. Nothing on cold. A bit on hypertension. Nothing on taking blood pressure from technical standpoint. No average resting heart rate or much on heart rate period.
While I may have gone for overkill in my preparation; it was worth it for me. I do not like to read and sometimes retaining knowledge that way is difficult for me. Having the numerous questions from the exam prep and the practice tests and online courses was a huge advantage.
