Personal training certification

Hi there,
Just wanted you to take another look at AFAA so you can update your info. I live in Denver and called one of the top, if not the top, health clubs in the city. I asked the director of fitness which training to get for my personal training certification, and he said he thought AFAA was a really good one. I looked into it and ended up signing up for the workshop and exam. I studied for 9 weeks and then took the 3 day workshop, which was excellent.
The instructor was terrific, and I felt I knew and understood so much more after the weekend was over. In my text, it looks like much of it has been taken from ACSM, which has the highest of all reputations.
The fact that I had both a written and practical exam was important for me, and the head of the gym here in Denver said that both components would be vital in his hiring someone with a PTC. I have read a few sites recently that intimated AFAA has really beefed up their program, so I think in order to keep this site current, you might want to investigate.
I will be working primarily with special populations and some of my continuing education sites state that if I have ACSM or AFAA, I do not need recertification with them. I thought this was very telling of AFAA's reputation.
Thanks for the site and all the info. Katherine
