Physical Therapist acting as a personal trainer
by Andrea
(Medford, NJ)
In NJ, is it legal for a physical therapist to offer services for cash such as the following: 1) perform a Functional Movement Screen 2) recommend advise on posture evaluation and associated exercises
I am in the unique position to be a physical therapist who coached div ! softball, played softball and have worked in the athletic training background. A friend of mine owns a softball pitching school and has asked me to start advising girls/pitchers of good body mechanics, posture and arranging a gym program for them. I want to charge for these services, but have not received my personal training certification yet.
Any initial thoughts on this? Thanks -

Physical Therapist addition
by David Gaston
(Overland Parkm KS, USA)
Mr. Weller,
I own a Personal Training Studio in Overland Park, KS and was possibly looking to add a Physical Therapist on-staff, and didn't know if there were any legal ramifications or restrictions in doing so.
Many physical therapists also do personal training and group fitness classes, but didn't know if starting from a Personal training, group fitness classes only classification, and adding on Physical Therapy created any issues.
Amy help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
