Question about becoming a personal trainer

by Jon Harding
(North Carolina)

I am a student at Western Carolina University. I will graduate this May with a BSBA Managemen Degree. I want to become a personal trainer and was wondering if my four year degree, even though its not in a related field, could help me with getting a job. I know it could help me run my own business if I decided to go in that route. I just wanted to know if they look for people with 4yr degrees. Also, which certification is the best? Thanks.

Jon

Your degree probably won't help
by: Katie - Admin

Your degree probably won't make much of a difference to most gyms unless you were trying to be a club manager. If your degree was in exercise science or related subject then it would be a big advantage.

But you are right that the degree will be helpful when you go off on your own as an independent trainer.

Masters Degree from EU in PE
by: Anonymous

I have Masters in PE and have been PE High School teacher and a swimming and athletic coach, I don`t have experience in PT. I am in process to get a license for PT and nutrition specialist. My question is Do you think that is better not to show my Masters degree if I apply for a job as PT in a club?
