Retainer Fees

by Stephen Haggarty
(Brooklyn, NY, USA)

I am a trainer working in the fitness industry for the last 8 years and I work with the senior geriatric market. My cliental consist of seasoned business professionals,CEO's, Upper Level Mangement and successful Business Owners to people who suffer from manic depression, schizophrenia and HIV.

I charge $200 per sesssion and I travel to their homes most of whom have their own small exercise studio's in their homes.

One of my clients who travels quite frequently on extended trips would like to reserve certain times and days of the week. He books for the month and would like to permanently reserve a block of time and days of the week for him and his employees whom I also train.

This particular client goes on extended business trips and vacations anywhere from 2 weeks to an entire month.

My question is, since this client would like to permanently reserve a specific day and time, what is a fair Retainer Fee Rate? I would like to keep this time available to him and his employees even when they are away on extended trips or vacations.

I would like to present something fair for both parties something that my client can say is fair and myself as well where I would not be losing income because I can't book anyone else during their specified day and time they want.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thank you,

Stephen

Subjective Pricing

You charge them what you think they'll pay. You can tell better than anyone what they'll be willing to pay. Unless you're the altruistic type, then you can sacrifice your quality of life on their behalf. I would start high and negotiate sparingly. Its a specialty service, not the norm.

Extended business trips are usually planned far in advance.can you sit down and go over a yearly schedule? If anyone requests a permanent block of your time then they must expect to pay for all of that time.200 a session?
