When I first began the Personal Fitness Trainer program at Stautzenberger I was absolutely terrified, however, once I met my instructors all of my insecurities and fears went away. It's an EXCELLENT program and you learn SO much. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to be apart of the program. It's well worth every minute of your time.
Once you complete all of your book work and labs you will have the opportunity to attend an amazing boot camp in Las Vegas, NV where you will be introduced to more phenomenal fitness information and participate in some fun fitness workouts.

Stautzenberger College Personal Fitness Training

In Maumee, Ohio there is a school called Stautzenberger College (sctoday.com) that offers a diploma or associate degree in personal fitness training. They partner with Professiona Fitness Institute in Las Vegas (there is a link to their website at sctoday.com). PFI sets up a curriculum that many schools across the country (including Pinnacle) follow to prepare students for NSCA certification. After completing courses, which in my case at Stautzenberger was four quarters, students travel to PFI in Las Vegas where they spend a week at "boot camp" learning from high profile professionals like Tommy Boyer-Kendrick, Ron Williams and many others. They also do various activities and have review sessions to prepare for the NSCA exam, which I'm sure you know is closed-book, proctored, and very difficult. I took my NSCA test on Aug. 21 at PFI and am anxiously awaiting my results, but I feel that the education I received at Stautzenberger and my time at PFI prepared me so I think I did well. What is also beneficial about this program is that we spend time in the classroom learning anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, psychology, nutrition and business then we have two quarters of hands-on lab time where we work with people at the local YMCA under the supervision of the instructor. Toward the end of the program we are also required to complete an externship where we work, unpaid at the YMCA, independent of the instructors, to gain experience. Through this program we also cultivate contacts and networking skills both in the classroom, in the labs, at our externship site and at PFI. PFI has been around for about five years but Stautzenberger just started this program last summer. I am in the first group from Stautzenberger to go through this program. As of now I am awaiting the results of my NSCA exam, I have three weeks left of my externship at the YMCA (I'm hopin to be hired there), then next quarter I will take three more general education classes at Stautzenberger to complete my associate's degree. Thank you for letting me ramble. I just wanted to let you know about Stautzenberger and PFI and hope that you will include them on this great website that you have.
