ways to get clients for fitness

I agree, when I worked at the gym, you can start conversations with people using bad form.
Or you can walk the floor, or stand at the entrance and offer a free fitness assessment, or a body fat test, or a free session so they can see if they like working with you.
Also asking for referrals from family, or friends is always good, at least they will trust you right away...
someone else on here said she offered a free session to her current clients if they referred someone who signed up for training
you can also post classified ads online and offline, especially if you have a website to send them to
some online sites even sell leads for fitness clients, I havent tried that yet, but sounds like a good idea to me.
some people teach the aerobics classes at the gym, and find clients from the people in the class who are regulars and believe you know what you are doing, you build trust with them
also you can partner with local businesses, day spas, vitamin stores, massage places, tanning places, or leave cards in your clients businesses, as many folks who can afford training do own businesses, smoothie shops
lastly you can offer free services at an event like a marathon group, or a bootcamp,
flyers or business cards can be left at certain businesses, just ask for permission before you do it
if you have a networking site like myspace, you can offer services on that site
or you can post a blog with fitness articles, or fitness videos
