What clients want Vs. that I believe they need

I have been a trainer for about 8 years and one of my biggest struggles still lingers. I'm sure we all have clients that come in and want you to just really push them BUT we know there physically not ready for that. Maybe they have injury's, form needs improvement, there doing way to much cardio already etc....If I had it my way I would take the time to focus on movement patterns, form, before I pick up on intensity, looking towards life long health and consistency. I usually find myself somewhere in the middle but not providing what I feel would be the best education/training. any advice/experience on this?
