Worst of Personal Training List

1. When a client pulls at a microscopic piece of flab on her thigh and asks, "What exercise can I do to get rid of this one little squidge right here?"

2. People who come to the gym with really, really offensive BO or extreme perfume.

3. Guys who pick a bench and sit and read the newspaper for twenty minutes.

4. "You know, I'm in really good shape even though I haven't been to the gym in over two years."

5. People who sing along to their Walkman.

6. People who think they're cool because they sweat a lot.

7. Guys who get all territorial about machines.

A very universal list

I think every personal trainer can relate with part if not all of your list. Thanks for the laugh.

8. People who line up a circuit of weights, (usually where there is only one set of said weight) and are sitting on the bench talking for 15 minutes. ON THE PHONE!!!!!

Changing Apts
by: Mel

How very annoying when clients continually change days and times of sessions. "can we do tues instead of Monday? Can we do 6pm instead of 4pm? I am running 20 min late." AAAAAGGGHHHH. Just stick with the apt. I'm sure they dont change their dentist apt 200 times.

LOL
by: Anonymous

This made me laugh, although I suspect this is an old post (with the mention of walkmans and reading the newspaper, lol). Here's my comments on some of these:
1) Did you ever notice that 90% of women age ~60+ say "How do I get rid of THIS???", indicating the flabby skin underneath their upper arm. I've had so many women literally in their 70s and even 80s do this. And there's no good way to answer that, because at that point, most of them aren't even overweight, it's just loose skin that comes with age. They can work their triceps, obviously, but they're not gonna "get rid of it". It's just loose skin. And the fact that they're that old and so concerned with something that superficial is kind of sad to me anyway.
3) Nowadays they'll sit on a bench (or on the floor) and look at their phone for 20 minutes at a time in between exercises. This way they can tell all their friends and post of social media that they were at the gym for 2 hours that morning. Hey, they aren't lying!!!
4) Yes for whatever reason, I find many more clients/new members who are waaaaay too overconfident and that think they are capable of much more than they really are, in the initial phases of beginning an exercise program. Low self-esteem is a thing of the past, LOL. Well I should say that most people are probably capable, but not willing to put the time and effort in. So it's more like they just don't know themselves very well.
5) I once had someone advise me that when someone is annoyingly singing in public, what you can do is turn to the person and say "Excuse me, do you know who sings that song?" And when they reply with the artist (J. Lo, Lady Gaga, or whoever) then you ask, "Do you know WHY she/he sings that song?" They'll say "Why?" And you reply "So YOU don't have to!" LOL.
6) Yeah I've had potential clients who I'm meeting for the first time try to indicate how intense the workouts they're used to doing are by telling me how much they sweat. What they don't realize is this means absolutely nothing, especially when you don't know the person. They could be someone who's extremely unfit that literally breaks a sweat just walking across a room...or they could be super-fit and their body has become very efficient at cooling itself. And obviously the temperature/humidity wherever they're exercising plays a huge role in how much they sweat as well.
